Ranjit hits 209 in drawn u-23 match against Chhattisgarh

Odisha vice-captain Ranjit Singh stole the show with a majestic knock of 209 against Chhattisgarh in their four-day C K Nayudu Trophy Plate Group B match, which ended in a draw here at Vikash ground today. But host Odisha secured three points from the high-scoring match by virtue of taking a first-innings lead of 88 runs, while Chhattisgarh drew blank.

Electing to bat, Odisha rode on the double century by Ranji, whose 449-ball marathon knock was studded with 22 fours and three sixes, and a half-century each by Abhishek Yadav (66) and Gourav Mahapatra (62) to declare their first innings at 504 for six.

In reply, Chhattisgarh were all out for 416. Among successful Odisha bowlers, captain Ankit Yadav and Priyatosh Paramanik bagged three wickets each, while Pappu Roy picked up a brace. Odisha were 43 for two in their second innings when the match ended in draw. Odisha will next meet Haryana at Sambalpur from October 17.
